Job Description:
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Binghamton University has 28 faculty members, with undergraduate and graduate enrollments of approximately 470 and 125 students, respectively, and annual research expenditures of ~$4M. The Department of Mechanical Engineering invites applications for two (2) tenure-track Instructor positions with an expected starting date of August 2027. We seek educators committed to excellence in undergraduate engineering education, pedagogy development, student mentoring, and the development of a highly skilled engineering workforce. The successful candidates will primarily support the department's core undergraduate curriculum, including foundational courses in areas such as thermofluids, mechanics, dynamics and vibration, materials, manufacturing, and design.
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses, contributing to curriculum development, mentoring students, and supporting experiential learning activities and capstone design. In addition to teaching, the successful candidates will be expected to demonstrate leadership, scholarship, and engagement with the broader engineering education community. This may include scholarly work in engineering education, curriculum innovation, and/or the mentorship of undergraduate students engaged in research or project-based inquiry. The candidates will also engage in service activities such as ABET accreditation and industry liaison that support the mission and continued growth of the department and college.
Tenure-track instructors are teaching professors eligible for tenure after 7 years of continuing service. The regular teaching load is 6 courses per academic year.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's and PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field, by the time of appointment
- Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate Mechanical Engineering courses in one or more of the department's listed core areas
- Interest and ability to mentor students
