Description
We are seeking a Renewables Project Engineering Manager [RES PEM] within the Technical Centre for Power & Utilities [TCPU] to lead and manage the technical delivery of renewable energy projects across the Middle East, Africa, & Caspian Countries.The role is cantered on Project Engineering Management under Owner's Engineer [OE], Project Management Consultancy [PMC], and Independent Engineering [IE] assignments for utility-scale Solar PV, Wind, and BESS projects.
The successful candidate will combine strong engineering background, structured project management, and client-facing capability, ensuring high-quality technical delivery, schedule control, and effective coordination across disciplines.
Roles & Responsibilities
Project Engineering & Management
Represent the Technical Centre - Power & Utilities as Project Engineering Manager [PEM] / Engineering Manager [EM] / Project Manager [PM] on renewable energy projects under OE / PMC / IE roles.
Lead and manage the technical review and design oversight process across:
- Civil & structural engineering
- Electrical and grid integration
- Energy yield & performance analysis
- Technology, permitting, and compliance
Define and manage project workflows, deliverables, responsibilities, and review cycles.
Technical Review & Due Diligence
Review and coordinate technical assessments including:
- Plant design and engineering documents
- EPC, OEM, and O&M contracts
- Technical inputs to financial models
Ensure technical compliance with:
- International standards [IEC, IEEE, ISO, NFPA, EN]
- Local grid codes and authority requirements
- Identify technical risks, mitigation actions, and optimization opportunities
Schedule, Cost & Reporting
- Review project management plans, schedules [Primavera P6 or equivalent], and execution strategies.
- Monitor progress against budget, schedule, and scope.
- Prepare: - Project progress reports - Monthly status updates - Invoicing plans and technical inputs to claims [as applicable]
Client & Stakeholder Interface
- Lead and participate in: -
- Technical meetings - Design reviews
- Workshops with clients, EPCs, OEMs, and utilities
- Act as the primary technical interface for assigned projects.
- Support site visits, construction reviews, and commissioning activities when required.
Business Support & Continuous Improvement
- Support tendering and proposal preparation for renewable energy projects.
- Contribute to improving internal: - Best practices
- Project management tools
- Engineering workflows
- Knowledge sharing within TCPU
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical, Mechanical, Power, or Renewable Energy Engineering.
- Minimum 9-12 years of experience in renewable energy projects.
- Proven experience in Project Engineering Management / Engineering Management for utility-scale projects.
- Demonstrated exposure to:
Solar PV plants
Wind farms
BESS projects [assessment, integration, or execution
