- Postdoctoral Associate in Stem Cell Biology/Reproductive Biotechnology
Description
The Laboratory of Integrative Physiology at Cornell University (Selvaraj Lab: http://blogs.cornell.edu/selvaraj/) is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate interested in fundamental questions at the intersection of cell biology and gametes and early embryo development.
Current research in the lab explores mechanisms underlying cellular reprogramming, pluripotency, gamete maturation, fertilization, and early embryo development using cellular and large-animal experimental systems. Related directions include systems-level investigation of signaling, gene discovery, and protein function, with integration of physiological biomimicry to translate fundamental discoveries toward improving in vitro fertilization and pregnancy success.
We are seeking a highly motivated and intellectually curious individual who can contribute new ideas, creatively design and adapt experimental approaches, and conduct rigorous, high-quality research. The position offers opportunities to investigate fundamental biological mechanisms underlying early embryo development while advancing stem cell-based applications in reproductive biotechnology. There will be opportunities available to directly engage in systems-level analyses using advanced sequencing and mass spectrometry technologies for molecular discovery, as well as targeted mechanistic investigations.
First review of applications will be on November 24th, and the position will remain until filled.
Requirements
Applicants must hold a PhD in the biological sciences or a related field and have experience in molecular biology and laboratory techniques, including, but not limited to, immunohistochemistry, image analysis, quantitative PCR, and Western blotting. Cell biologists who have not previously worked with gametes or embryos are also welcome to apply. At least one publication in a respected peer-reviewed journal is required. The successful candidate should demonstrate the ability to work independently, take intellectual ownership of research projects, and contribute effectively to a multidisciplinary, collaborative research team. The position will also provide opportunities to mentor and train undergraduate researchers at Cornell University.
