POSITION TITLE: Middle School Math/Science Teacher – 1.0 FTE Continuing Position

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE SHALL:

• Demonstrate ability to design and implement effective, relevant, and engaging instruction in Math and Science at the middle school level.
• Exhibit strong instructional strategies, curriculum adaptation, behavior management skills in promoting positive student behavior, and skills in both formative and summative assessment practices.
• Knowledge of Professional Learning Communities / PBIS and RTI-MTSS.
• Exhibit strong skills and ability to communicate effectively with students and parents, and willingness to facilitate family involvement and engagement to help students succeed.
• Be enthusiastic, open minded and flexible in meeting the needs of students, the school, the district, and the community.
• Demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both oral and written forms, and collaborate with parents and school staff.
• Maintain and submit student records and progress in a timely manner, and willingness to communicate student progress with parents/guardians/care takers.
• Maintain professionalism by being a strong role model for students, by actively participating in professional development activities and demonstrate a commitment to support department and school wide goals and practices.
• Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned by the building principal.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Valid Washington State Teaching certificate with proper endorsements/qualifications to teach Middle School Math and Science courses.
• Must favorably pass the Washington State Patrol/FBI background check.

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Superintendent/Principal – Shannon Hughes

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• Work Year - Certificated employees are contracted for 184 days.
• Start date: August 24, 2026.

SALARY/BENEFITS:

• Salary/Benefits: Placement on the negotiated salary schedule established by Sprague and Lamont School Districts.  $54,688 - $105,764 increments depend on experience in the same or similar position.  This position is eligible for medical and retirement benefits.
