Description
We are looking for a Foundry Engineer Supervisor to lead our technical engineering and melt/molding floor operations. In this role, you will bridge the gap between advanced ferrous metallurgy and daily shift execution, managing a team of technicians and engineers to maximize yield and minimize scrap.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Teams: Supervise, schedule, and mentor foundry engineers, metallurgists, and lab technicians.
Melt & Chemistry: Oversee electric furnace/cupola operations, executing precise magnesium/cerium inoculation for ductile iron.
Casting Simulation: Use Magmasoft or SolidCast to design and optimize gating, risering, and tooling.
Scrap Reduction: Diagnose and eliminate chronic defects like micro-shrinkage, gas porosity, and sand inclusions.
Quality Assurance: Oversee lab teams performing spectrometer validation, thermal analysis, and microstructure/nodularity checks.
Requirements
Education: B.S. in Metallurgical, Materials, or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent heavy industry experience).
Experience: 5+ years in a ferrous foundry with 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role.
Expertise: Deep knowledge of gray/ductile iron metallurgy, green sand/no-bake management, and casting solidification.
Plus: FEF school alumni, Six Sigma certification, or experience with automated pouring/robotic finishing.
