Description
A leading global investment bank is seeking an experienced Compliance Advisory professional to support its Technology & Infrastructure functions in Japan. This role focuses on providing strategic compliance guidance across corporate, operational, and technology-related business areas while ensuring adherence to Japanese regulatory requirements and global policy standards.You will play a critical role as a second-line-of-defense advisor, supporting major initiatives related to data privacy, outsourcing governance, operational risk, and emerging technology regulations. This is an excellent opportunity for professionals with experience in Compliance, Audit, Non-Financial Risk, or Financial Services Regulatory Advisory who are interested in technology risk, AI governance, and cross-border regulatory frameworks within a global banking environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic compliance advisory support across corporate, technology, and operational business functions.
- Lead Japan-focused initiatives related to data privacy governance and outsourcing compliance frameworks.
- Monitor and strengthen personal information protection controls by enhancing internal policies and employee training initiatives.
- Partner with Legal and Technology teams to conduct due diligence for system onboarding and offshore operational activities.
- Manage regulatory inspections, incident reporting, and interpretation of new Japanese regulatory requirements.
- Act as the lead escalation point for high-priority compliance incidents and coordinate cross-functional remediation efforts.
- Promote a strong culture of ethical conduct, governance, and risk accountability across the organization.
- Support compliance projects tied to emerging technologies, operational resilience, and evolving regulatory expectations.
- 5+ years of experience within Compliance, Audit, or Non-Financial Risk functions within financial services in Japan.
- Strong experience interpreting and applying Japanese regulatory frameworks within complex financial organizations.
- Proven ability to manage regulatory inspections, compliance incidents, and governance-related initiatives.
- Experience supporting technology, infrastructure, operational risk, or outsourcing-related compliance matters is highly preferred.
- Bachelor's degree and over 6 years of professional experience required.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple urgent priorities within fast-paced and highly regulated environments.
- Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills across internal teams and external regulators.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex regulations into practical business guidance.
- Proactive, collaborative, and solutions-oriented mindset.
- Japanese: Native-level fluency required.
- English: Intermediate to business-level proficiency required for collaboration within a global organization.
- Interest in technology risk, AI governance, cybersecurity, or emerging regulatory frameworks.
- Experience supporting global banking platforms or international compliance programs.
- Exposure to outsourcing governance, data privacy, or operational resilience frameworks would be advantageous.
