The Department of Computer Science at the University of Houston (www.cs.uh.edu) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in Quantum Information Science, as part of the university's Presidential Frontier Faculty (PFF) program. Candidates working on theoretical or practical aspects of quantum information science are encouraged to apply, including algorithms for quantum computing and communication, quantum networking, quantum distributed computing, quantum cryptography, the integration of quantum computing and HPC systems, and software for heterogeneous quantum systems.
The Presidential Frontier Faculty program is a university-wide strategic initiative to recruit outstanding early-career scholars in frontier research areas. This position is anchored in the Department of Computer Science (tenure home) and involves collaboration with the Department of Mathematics and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (Cullen College of Engineering). The hire will join a growing campus-wide quantum effort, including concurrent quantum-themed searches in Physics and Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, the university's partnership with IonQ, and alignment with the National Quantum Initiative and the State of Texas quantum initiatives. The department is seeking exceptional candidates with the potential for exceptional research, excellence in teaching, and mentoring of graduate and undergraduate students. Candidates must demonstrate an outstanding scholarly record of research, exhibited by high-impact peer-reviewed publications and a forward-looking, vigorous research agenda that will secure competitive, external funding as Principal Investigator (PI).
