Mathematics Teacher MS/HS (7th Grade Math/ Math Support)
Spokane International Academy is seeking a full-time, dynamic, and accomplished educator to serve as a Middle and High School Math Teacher. Spokane International Academy is a rigorous, K–12 public charter school that empowers all students with strong academic skills, essential habits for success, and the global competence needed to complete advanced coursework in high school and college—and to become transformative leaders in their communities.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum and Instruction
Deliver engaging, age-appropriate instruction in Math 8/Pre-Algebra, Geometry, and Algebra 2 using the provided core curriculum (Illustrative Mathematics).
Use a variety of instructional strategies and resources to meet the needs of diverse learners and learning styles.
Maintain high expectations for all students while fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, and a deep understanding of mathematical concepts.
Classroom Culture and Management
Create and maintain a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning.
Effectively manage student behavior in alignment with school policies and best practices.
Foster a classroom culture that promotes collaboration, perseverance, and academic achievement.
Student Assessment and Progress Monitoring
Use daily formative assessments and summative assessments (including End-of-Unit exams, MAP, and SBA) to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
Provide timely, specific, and constructive feedback to guide student growth.
Maintain accurate records of student performance using school-approved data systems and communicate progress to students, families, and school leadership.
Professional Collaboration and Development
Participate in staff meetings, collaborative planning, and professional development aligned with school goals and curriculum implementation.
Engage in instructional coaching and reflective practice to continually improve teaching effectiveness.
Collaborate with grade-level and content-area colleagues to evaluate and refine instructional practices and student supports.
Family and Community Engagement
Communicate regularly with families about student progress, classroom activities, and school expectations.
Support the broader school community through participation in school events, student-led exhibitions, and extracurricular programming such as clubs or academic competitions.
Student Development and Equity
Identify and support the individual needs of students, including those with IEPs, 504 plans, and Multilingual Learners.
Promote social-emotional learning and student agency through structured routines, collaborative activities, and culturally responsive practices.
Advocate for equitable access, achievement, and opportunity for all students.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field
Valid Washington State teaching certificate with Mathematics endorsement
Demonstrated success working with students from diverse cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
Strong classroom management and instructional planning skills
Experience using data to inform instruction and differentiate support
Ability to make complex mathematical concepts accessible and engaging for middle and high school learners
Proficiency in integrating technology to enhance instruction (e.g., graphing calculators, online tools, instructional software)
Desire to teach using inquiry-based strategies with a global, student-centered approach
Willingness to collaborate within grade-level teams and across the school in a Professional Learning Community

Preferred Qualifications
3–5 years of experience teaching Mathematics at the middle or high school level
Familiarity with the Illustrative Mathematics curriculum
Experience in charter schools and/or urban education environments
Demonstrated ability to deliver rigorous, differentiated instruction tailored to diverse learners
