Description
DescriptionThe fellow will lead independent and collaborative research at the intersection of pedagogy and STEM education, with a focus on Flipped Classroom models, student learning outcomes, and effective faculty teaching practices.
Responsibilities:
- The selected Postdoctoral Fellow will drive the research agenda, taking the lead on data collection, analysis, conducting on-site interviews across multiple institutions, and dissemination. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Research & Publication Leadership: Lead the preparation of manuscripts, publications, and conference presentations, with full support from the research team for submission and peer review.
- Mentorship & Training: Mentor graduate assistants and actively contribute to the development and execution of professional development workshops for faculty.
- Data Management & Analysis: Aggregate institutional and course data, conduct advanced data analysis to evaluate research questions, and manage both quantitative and qualitative datasets.
- Qualitative Research: Design and conduct focus group and stakeholder interviews and complement survey data with detailed narrative records. Excellent statistical background is mandatory; required knowledge in qualitative data analysis (e.g., thematic analysis, narrative records).
- Project Engagement: Attend monthly meetings with partnering institutions to collect observational data on peer interactions and contribute to the independent research program.
- Professional Development: Create and execute an Individual Development Plan (IDP) outlining career training and professional goals for the term of the appointment.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in using technology to achieve research and program goals, including all Microsoft Office programs, Microsoft Teams, and data analysis software such as R.
- Management and Integrity: Excellent project and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently. Commitment to generating accurate and reproducible data with a critical eye for consistency and data integrity.

Qualifications
A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree is required at the time of appointment.
Demonstrated expertise and knowledge within a STEM discipline.
Experienced in both quantitative and qualitative research methods on human subjects.
Clear communication and strong scientific writing skills demonstrated through a track record of peer-reviewed publications.
Excellent teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the start of the appointment and for the duration of the funding period.
Candidates must possess a demonstrated ability to excel in a collaborative research environment. Proven experience working on externally funded projects (e.g., NSF, NIH), including familiarity with IRB submissions, compliance procedures, and participant recruitment is required.
