SUNY Maritime College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Data Science and Machine Learning. The Science Department is a multidisciplinary department and the B.S. in Data Science and Machine Learning is our newest major. The department prides itself on having a collaborative culture that emphasizes pedagogical excellence. The typical teaching load for this position will be twelve credits per semester with small class sizes and will consist of courses in introductory and advanced computer science and machine learning. Students in the major will also have the option to pursue a U.S. Coast Guard Deck License.

Description of Duties:
- Teach core undergraduate Computer Science courses, such as Data Structures and Algorithms
- Teach advanced Machine Learning and AI courses, including Deep Neural Networks and related topics
- Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students in research projects
- Engage in departmental service activities and contributing to updating curriculum development and assessment
- Maintain office hours for assisting students
- Engage in scholarly activities
- University service including participation on committees
Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
- PhD in Computer Science
- Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate Computer Science courses and specialized AI/ML courses
Preferred Qualifications:
- Research experience in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or Big Data
- Industry experience in AI-driven technologies, data analytics, or scalable computing systems
Additional Information:
Classification: The Assistant Professor 10 Months is tenure trach UUP position. The anticipated salary will be $85,000.00 to $90,000.00 inclusive of an outstanding benefits package (for more information, please see the UUP Full-Time Benefits-at-a-Glance). Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Review of applications will commence immediately and conclude when the position is filled.
Special Notes: Fair Labor Standard Acts (FLSA) Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external searches to occur simultaneously.
